about
Sumer Sabooh Goh is a freelance food stylist, pastry chef, and recipe developer based in New York City. She specializes in styling pastry, beverage, texture, and ingredients, and especially loves taking on elaborate custom builds and fabrications, such as a realistic snow cone that won’t melt on set or a scale model of a historic hotel made entirely from real gingerbread. Her past clients include Gwyneth Paltrow’s Gwyn, Net-a-Porter, ChapStick, Godiva, Dunkin’, Bon Appetit, Epicurious, Delish, and New York Times Cooking.
Sumer’s work takes inspiration from such disparate sources as Ina Garten, Paul Reubens, Karen O, Davids Byrne and Bowie, Paddington Bear, her Iranian heritage, classic American diners, the Shania Twain album The Woman in Me, and the ’90s children’s television show Out of the Box. Her dream projects include food styling for a period drama like Mad Men, a sci-fi thriller like Severance, or a conceptual campaign for Prada or Erewhon.
One of Sumer’s greatest strengths is a can-do, say-yes attitude. She is always excited to take on major challenges, and feels the most satisfaction after doing something that’s never been done before or solving problems that seemed insurmountable. Sumer prides herself on her preparedness and calmness on set, her ability to pivot and always be as collaborative as possible with her clients and colleagues, and her patience and focus to carry out the finest of detail work. Her work mantra is “everything is figure-out-able.”
Before making the leap into food styling, Sumer was a pastry chef in the kitchens of some of Brooklyn’s most beloved bakeries, including Saraghina, Poppy’s, Otway, and Rita & Maria. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences from the University of Georgia. (Go Dawgs!!!)
When she’s not on set, you’re most likely to find Sumer in the balcony section of a 20th anniversary show for an emo band she loved in high school.
